Did Kevin Bobo make a boo-boo?

If your name were Klutz, you might want to be extra careful. Not that your name defines you necessarily, or predetermines your destiny, but, hey, it can have an influence on how you act and how others act toward you, so why make a self-fulfilling prophecy out of it?

If your name were Bobo or Boo-boo or Owie, you, too, might want to proceed with caution, and maybe change your name (but not to Klutz).

Believe it or not, a guy named Kevin Bobo actually had an accident at the Houston Sportsplex in 2018 and allegedly suffered an injury. Whether he refers to it as a bobo or a boo-boo or an owie, we don’t know, but it must have been a lulu, because it took him one day shy of two years (the statute of limitations deadline) to realize how badly he’d been injured and file a million-dollar lawsuit in Harris County District Court against the Sportsplex, et al.

On December 13, 2018, Bobo was playing softball at Sportsplex when another player ran into him, so he says. Did the other player run into Bobo or did Bobo run into him, in which case the bobo or boo-boo would be Bobo’s fault? Or did the two klutzes run into each other, in which case blame would be shared between Bobo and NotBobo?

Though fascinating to consider as an exercise in the absurd, it doesn’t really matter, because Bobo is not suing NotBobo. He’s suing the Sportsplex, which had nothing to do with the unfortunate accident and could not possibly have prevented it.

Sure, the complex could have posted signs saying “Don’t run into people” and “Don’t let people run into you,” but is that really necessary? Have we all become so stupid that we need to be reminded that collisions have consequences and ought to be avoided?

Another thing that has consequences is ridiculous lawsuits. The people who file them deserve to be ridiculed. Here’s hoping that Bobo gets his share of ridicule and lives to regret his boo-boo.
