Texas school districts request AG approval to sue over Hurricane Hanna damages

AUSTIN - Last month, two Texas school districts requested approval from the Office of the Attorney General to pursue litigation to recover “insured but unpaid property damages” caused by Hurricane Hanna. 

On Jan. 18, Valley View ISD submitted a proposed contingent fee legal services agreement to the OAG, records show. 

According to its request, Valley View ISD seeks “recovery of insured but unpaid property damages and losses sustained by the District as a result of the Hurricane Hanna (2020) storm event.”

Monte Alto ISD submitted its contingent fee agreement for approval a week later on Jan. 25, also seeking to “recover insured but unpaid property damages” caused by Hanna, records show. 

Both districts are represented by the Texas law firms of . O’Hanlon, Demerath & Castillo, and Raizner Slania.
