SHERMAN - A female regional manager of a pharmaceutical company has filed a lawsuit against her former employer claiming she was terminated due to gender discrimination.

Kathy M. Bryson filed suit against Daiichi Sankyo Inc. on July 2 in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division.

Bryson was hired by the defendant in March 20, 2008, as a district manager. She alleges that beginning in April 2011, her regional manager began engaging in a pattern and practice of sex discrimination against her and other female employees, according to the suit.

Bryson was terminated on Feb. 6, 2012 for purportedly sending out an email that referenced what a doctor had said.

“Daiichi’s concocted reason for terminating Bryson was merely a pretext for its unlawful sex discrimination directed to her,” the lawsuit states.

The defendant is accused of discriminating against Bryson because of her sex in violation of her civil rights.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for lost salary, benefits, and seniority status, front pay, compensatory and punitive damages, attorney’s fees, court costs and interest.

Bryson is represented by Chicago attorney Joel F. Handler and Roger D. Sanders and Laura Gallardo of Sanders, O’Hanlon & Motley PLLC in Sherman. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark is assigned to the case.
