A woman has filed suit against Kroger, alleging she slipped and fell on a clear liquid on the floor of the store.

Jacqueline Collins alleges she was shopping at the Kroger at 151 North Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, on June 10 when she slipped and fell.

"At the time and on the occasion in question, Jacqueline Collins encountered a defect in the premises on the floor [clear liquid] which was a dangerous slip and fall hazard and which caused her to fall, causing the injuries and damages that made the basis of this lawsuit," states the suit filed Sept. 16 in Galveston County District Court.

Because of the incident, Collins experienced physical pain and mental anguish, endured physical impairment and lost her earning capacity, the complaint says. She also alleges she incurred medical costs.

According to the complaint, Collins blames Kroger for causing her injuries, saying the grocery store negligently failed to correct the defect on the floor, failed to warn of the liquid, failed to have an employee inspect the floor, failed to protect its customers from dangers, failed to keep the premises safe and failed to exercise reasonable care for Collins' safety.

In her complaint, Collins seeks judgment between $200,000 and $1 million, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
