An Alvin-based business is suing a Sante Fe, Texas, resident, alleging breach of contract regarding three separate construction projects.

McLaughlin Erectors Inc. filed a lawsuit June 11 in Galveston County District Court John Good, alleging liability in three separate agreements made in October 2014 and January 2015.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 20, 2014, McLaughlin Erectors contracted with John Good to renovate McLaughlin’s office space at 1618 Callaway in Alvin, and the agreement stipulated inclusion of fixtures, flooring, stairs, windows, shelving, doors, closets, bathrooms, stove top and other features.

The lawsuit states the project was left unfinished with many items not up to code and in need of repair, and that on Jan. 6, 2015, the plaintiff further engaged Good with two additional contracts to build a gated driveway and fence on McLaughlin Erectors’ premises. The suit says no work was performed on the latter two projects despite McLaughlin having made substantial deposits to the defendant in the amount of $37,161.90.

The plaintiff alleges breach of contract and poor workmanship.

McLaughlin Erectors seeks: up to $100,000 in compensation; actual and economic damages; pre- and post-judgment interest; attorney fees; expenses; and costs. It is represented by attorney Katy Jo Muncie in Galveston.

Galveston County District Court case number CV-0074418.
