Injured hotel employee alleges negligence

Laquinta

A Jefferson County woman has sued a hotel for alleged liability.

Darlene Bee filed a lawsuit Feb. 9 in Jefferson County District Court against Ohm Shiv Parvati Inc., doing business as La Quinta Inns and Suites Port Arthur, and La Quinta Inns Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Bee, a La Quinta employee, injured her right finger, arm and shoulder while attempting to move an air conditioning unit at the hotel at 7540 Memorial Blvd., Port Arthur, on Nov. 20, 2014. She began to suffer anxiety as a result of both her accident and subsequent termination for allegedly missing work, the suit states.

Bee alleges negligence on the part of the defendant because Ohm Shiv Parvati failed to provide a safe work environment, adequate supervision or assistance and proper training. The suit says Bee suffered pain and suffering, disfigurement, loss of wages and diminished earning capacity.

Bee seeks: punitive damages more than $1 million; compensation for medical expenses; attorney fees; expenses; and costs. She is represented by lawyers John Daspit and Robert Morse of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
