A woman is suing a company or individual for alleged medical negligence in 2013.
Daniele Nobile filed a complaint against Texas Center for Neurosciences PLLC; Remi Nader; and Nader Consultants LLC, all of Beaumont, on April 15 in Jefferson County District Court, claiming medical negligence in a February 2013 medical procedure.
According to the filing, the plaintiff’s small bowel was accidentally perforated by Dr. Nader when Nobile underwent surgery on Feb. 15, 2013. The lawsuit states that the accident was caused by a screw or a drill going through the spine to the peritoneal cavity.
The defendant allegedly was unaware of the puncture. The lawsuit states that the patient experienced post-operative pain; that the surgeon failed to note abnormalities on subsequent x-rays; and instead ordered excessive amounts of morphine to purportedly mask the pain symptoms.
The complaint cites intervention by other physicians on Feb. 17, including emergency corrective surgery and medication to reverse the morphine’s narcotic effects. According to court documents, Nobile suffered renal failure, infection and other complications, necessitating extended medical care.
Arguing that the defendants were collectively negligent, failed to exercise ordinary care, and breached medical standards, the plaintiff cites physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment, disability and disfigurement. Nobile seeks: compensation for medical expenses; damages; pre- and post-judgment interest; attorney’s fees; expenses; and costs. She is represented by Craig Lewis of the Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
