An oil rig worker brought a lawsuit against his employer for alleged liability in a 2014 workplace incident.
William Allen Elmore of Alvin filed against Hilcorp Energy Co. of Houston, in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas on May 15, claiming specific injuries in a September 2014 event.
The plaintiff was hired to work on a vessel owned and operated by the defendant located at the Cook Inlet in Alaska. The suit states that Elmore was walking around rigged equipment on or about Sept. 7, 2014; as he stepped down to a deck, his foot slipped on an allegedly uneven, warped surface and he purportedly sustained injuries to his left leg and general body.
The grievance cites the defendant for failing to provide a safe workplace and markers or warning signs indicating that the deck surface was hazardous.
Citing physical pain and mental anguish; lost wages and earning capacity; impairment and discomfort; and pharmaceutical and medical expenses, the plaintiff seeks compensation in excess of $75,000 for damages; pre- and post-judgment interest; attorney’s fees expenses and costs.
