Three women fired while on medical leave are suing their former employer and two supervisors for alleged discrimination and retaliation.

Delise Adams, Gloria Flores-Olvera and Judy Perez filed a complaint on May 12 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against Memorial Hermann, Chips Adams and Arnold Carasco.

This lawsuit is an action stemming from an alleged violation of the Civil Rights Act, specifically its amendment in the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. All three plaintiffs filed this action within the required 90 days of having been informed of their right to sue by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

All three women, while exercising their rights of leave after pregnancy based on the Family Medical Leave Act, were fired while on leave.

The plaintiffs are citing interference with rights, retaliation and discrimination, seek back pay; front pay; emotional distress damages, liquidated damages; lost benefits; punitive damages; attorneys' fees; and court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Sadiqa Banks in Houston.
