City aims to bulldoze developer's dreams for strip center

A commercial developer with designs on renovating a condemned property has filed a temporary restraining order and injunction in hopes of stopping the city of Beaumont from bulldozing his newly purchased piece of real estate.

Troy LeBlanc filed his application with the Jefferson County District Court on May 1. Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, will preside over the case.

The property is located at 2395 Grand St. in Beaumont.

"This purchase was made unbeknown to LeBlanc that the city had previously condemned the structure," the lawsuit said. "Beaumont has since stated its intention to demolish the structure and has informed plaintiff of such intention to be carried out soon."

Unless the city is immediately restrained, LeBlanc will have nothing to show for his investment, aside from a smouldering pile of rubble.
He is represented by Todd LeBlanc. Relation is unknown.
