Michael Dromgoogle vs. Union Pacific Railroad Co.

A locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad Co. for most of career, Michael Dromgoogle now suffers from severe back problems. He is suing the railway for "failing to provide ergonomic seats." He is citing the Boiler Inspection Act and the Federal Employer's Liability Act. FELA is legislation enacted to help injured railroad workers. Dromgoogle is suing for physical pain, lost wages, mental anguish, medical expenses and all court costs.

Sylvester Maye vs. Omega Protein Inc.

Seaman Sylvester Maye was thrown into the water and injured when the vessel he was serving on, the M/V Galveston Bay, capsized. Maye claims his employer, Omega Protein Inc., "acted with flagrant and malicious disregard of (his) health and safety." Under the Jones Act, he is suing Omega for negligently failing to maintain its vessel and properly train its employees.

Earnest Chapman et al vs. Motiva Enterprises

A quartet of Motiva Enterprises employees are claiming they were negligently exposed to sulfuric acid while working at the local plant.
Through Reaud, Morgan & Quinn attorney John Werner, Earnest Chapman, Jay Jackson, Jamie Perrault and Kenneth Chambless filed suit against Motiva with the Jefferson County District Court.

Teresa Sartor vs. Dr. Jacquin Coombs

Teresa Sartor is suing a Port Arthur physician, Dr. Jacquin Coombs, for complications following a hysterectomy. Sartor is suing for past and future medical treatment, mental anguish, physical pain, loss of earning capacity and impairment.

Geneva Mayfield vs. Prince Hall Village Apartments et al

The wife of Jarvis Mayfield, who was shot to death at the Prince Hall Village Apartments in Port Arthur nearly two years ago, is sung the apartment owners, claiming the J. Allen Management Co. owed Mayfield a duty to provide "a safe place to visit." Representing the estate of her husband, Geneva Mayfield filed her suit with the Jefferson County District Court

Elroyce Johnson et al vs. Amoco Oil Co. et al

On the surface, laundry doesn't appear to be an occupational hazard. However, a retired plumber is claiming his on the job asbestos exposure inadvertently contaminated his wife, causing her untimely death. Representing the estate of Maxine Johnson, Elroyce Johnson filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Amoco Oil Co. and 58 other companies. The plaintiffs are suing for wrongful death damages and exemplary damages.

Charles McCray vs. Newberry Properties, Ltd.

Charles McCray is suing Newberry Properties, Ltd. for "failing to replace a banister within a reasonable time." McCray was injured when he fell off some steps adjoining the absent banister. In his suit, McCray says he injured his neck and back when he fell. He is suing for past and future medical expenses, physical pain and mental anguish.

TK et al vs. BISD

Parents of a former Beaumont Independent School District student are suing Westbrook High School over their child's alleged participation in an outlawed sport known as "assassination" � a game that involves tracking down and shooting fellow schoolmates with air-soft guns. The parents, identified only as TK and JK, filed their suit in the Jefferson County District Court on Oct. 2, claiming two Westbrook High employees wrongfully working with the Beaumont Police Department detained their child and "coerced a confession" out of him/her. The defendants named in the suit are Rodney Cavness, Veronica Durden and BISD. The plaintiffs are suing for shame, embarrassment, mental anguish and physical pain, attorney's fees, plus actual damages. The plaintiffs also want the minor plaintiff's transcripts corrected and cleaned up.
