Christus St. Michaels

TEXARKANA, Ark. – During regular business hours on March 17, 2005, Dairy Ora Ducket was leaving a Texarkana hospital when she fell and claims she suffered serious bodily injuries after the automatic doors closed in on her.

Individually and on behalf of the heirs of the Daisy Ora Duckett's estate, Evelyn Renee Duckett Redick and Jocelyn Renee Cridell filed a personal injury lawsuit against Christus St. Michaels Health System on March 17. The hospital recently had the suit removed from Miller County Circuit Court to the federal court of Texarkana division of the Western District of Arkansas.

The lawsuit accuses the hospital of negligently causing, permitting, and failing to warn the deceased of the "dangerous condition." In addition, the plaintiffs allege the defendant is negligent for faulty and unsafe design and/or construction of the doors and failing to properly inspect and maintain the doors.

The plaintiffs state that Duckett suffered serious, disabling permanent injuries, severe physical and mental pain, suffering and anguish and medical expenses.

Texarkana attorney John C. Goodson of the law firm Keil and Goodson represent the plaintiffs.

Defendant Christus St. Michael Health System is requesting a trial by jury but has not responded to the allegations.

U.S. District Judge Harry F. Barnes is assigned to the litigation.
