A local resident has filed suit against the Beaumont Yacht Club, claiming that a blatant "dangerous condition" exists where club patrons walk.

Donald Hester's suit was filed July 3 in the Jefferson County District Court.

In his suit, Hester says he was injured on July 6, 2006, by a "negligent and defective" condition on the yacht club's premises.

Hester does not say how he was injured, nor does the suit describe the "defective" condition.

He is suing Beaumont Yacht Club under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, claiming the defendant failed to keep its premises in a good and safe condition.

"Plaintiff would show that he suffered, and in all probability will continue to suffer for the remainder of his life, a great deal of physical pain, mental anguish and physical impairment," the suit says, adding that Hester is also suing for past and future medical expenses, plus economic damages.

Hester is demanding a trial by jury and is represented by attorney Justin Sanderson, of the McPherson, Monk, Hughes, Bradley & Wimberley law firm.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd Judicial District.
