This Just In: Recent civil suits filed in Orange County District Courts

Sept. 9

  • Avis Carpenter vs. Flying J Inc.

    PA – John Morgan, J – Dennis Powell

    An Orange Count woman has filed suit against her former employer, Flying J Inc., claiming she was fired for applying for worker's compensation benefits after she slipped and fell whiled washing dishes.

    Carpenter is suing for actual and consequential damages, plus all court costs.

  • Sherry Smith vs. Tina Glisson

    PA – Larry Hunter, j – Dennis Powell

    On Sept. 29, 2006, the plaintiff had stopped at a stop sign at East Bolivar Street in Vidor. As she began to go through, she alleges the defendant ran her stop sign and struck her vehicle.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and impairment, plus actual damages and attorneys' fees.

  • Christopher Powers vs. Zane Callier and Debbie LeBlanc

    PA – Sandee Hart, J – Buddy Hahn

    On June 4 the plaintiff was injured when the defendant's vehicle to drive in a single lane and collided with the plaintiff's vehicle.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and impairment, plus actual damages and attorneys' fees.

  • Patricia Wilson vs. Super Star

    PA – Sandee Hart, J – Pat Clark

    Wilson was inside the Super Star in Vidor when she sat in a chair and fell to the ground. She alleges the chair was defective and the defendant was negligent for not removing it.

    Wilson is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and impairment, plus actual damages and attorneys' fees.

  • Homer Lewis Lee vs. Frank Booker Jr.

    PA – Trenton Bond, J – Dennis Powell

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant caused an automobile collision on Nov. 21, 2006, by driving recklessly. The suit does not give any details on how the incident occurred.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and impairment, plus actual damages and attorneys' fees.
