Asbestos suit names 65 companies as defendants over alleged exposure

Blevins

A Texas man and his wife have filed an asbestos suit against 65 defendant corporations, claiming the asbestos-related disease with which the man was diagnosed was wrongfully caused.

Rodney and Beatrice LeJeune say Robert worked as a truck driver, laborer and in various other roles, according to a lawsuit filed Oct. 20 in Jefferson County District Court.

They say the defending corporations were negligent because they failed to warn of the dangers of asbestos exposure and failed to provide Rodney with adequate protection while he worked.

The LeJeunes allege the asbestos-related disease has caused Rodney physical pain and suffering in the past and future, mental anguish in the past and future, lost wages, a loss of earning capacity, physical impairment in the past and future and medical costs.

Beatrice claims the disease has also caused her a loss of consortium.

They are seeking unspecified actual and exemplary damages, prejudgment and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems appropriate.

Bryan O. Blevins, Aaryn K. Giblin and Colin D. Moore of Provost Umphrey Law Firm will be representing them.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd of the 172nd District Court.

Case No. E182-567.
