LaQuinta sued by woman who fell at Beaumont hotel

LaQuinta-Beaumont West

A Mississippi resident has filed suit against a large hotel corporation, alleging she was injured after she fell at a Beaumont inn.

Annette Lacour claims she was staying at La Quinta Inn & Suites-Beaumont West on Walden Road when she suffered a serious injury after she slipped and fell on a wet floor.

Lacour filed suit Feb. 26 in Jefferson County District Court.

In addition to injuries, Lacour experienced great physical and mental pain, suffering and anguish and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Lacour also claims she lost her earning capacity and suffered from a seriously impaired ability to administer to the needs of herself and her family.

According to the complaint, KSH Ventures, the company that owns La Quinta, was negligent by:

  • Failing to provide and maintain its floors in a clean, dry and safe condition;
  • Allowing a slip hazard to remain on the floor without any barricade or warning;
  • Failing to inspect the premises in order to discover the dangerous condition; and
  • Failing to correct the dangerous condition.

    The company also negligently failed to warn Lacour that a dangerous condition existed, the suit states.

    Lacour is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest legal rate and other relief the court deems just.

    She is represented by B. Adam Terrell of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell of Beaumont.

    The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

    Case No. D183-393
