Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of three new lawsuits were filed against insurance companies over hurricane damage claims in Jefferson County District Court during the week of Aug. 24 through Aug. 28.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Gerald Conrad II of 2388 63rd St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Humberto struck on Sept. 13, 2007. Texas Farmers denied Conrad's claim because co-defendant Mark Winstead failed to secure a policy for Conrad, even though Conrad paid a premium for the policy. Conrad will be represented by Clint Brasher of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E184-767.

  • Roger and Patricia Huff of 6240 Comstock in Beaumont allege Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Company failed to timely pay their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. The Huffs are represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-779.

  • Westridge Townhomes Homeowner's Association of Prutzman Street in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claims for roof, water, structural and wind damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Westridge is represented by James E. Wimberley of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele and Chatelain in Port Arthur. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-804.
