This Just In: Recent civil suits filed in Orange County District Courts


Sept. 10

  • Michael Marks vs. Kevin Yuony

    PA – Jonathan Juhan, J – Pat Clark

    On Oct. 4, 2007, the plaintiff was traveling north on Main Street in Vidor when he stopped for a red light and was rear-ended by the defendant.

    The plaintiff claims the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, pain and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

  • Stacy Thompson vs. Wal-Mart Stores

    PA – Steve Parkhurst, J – Dennis Powell

    On Sept. 12, 2007, the plaintiff was shopping at the Bridge City Wal-Mart when she stepped into a hole in the concrete sidewalk and fell.

    The plaintiff claims the defendant failed to warn her of the danger and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, pain and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

  • Glen Beaumont vs. Underwriters at Lloyd's of London

    PA – Rocky Lawdermilk, J – Buddy Hahn

    The plaintiff is suing the insurance company and several of its agents for denying at least a portion of the plaintiff's Hurricane Ike policy claim.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant is guilty of several Texas Insurance Code violations and of violating the DTPA.

    The plaintiff is suing for actual and consequential damages, plus attorney's fees.

    On Aug. 27, 2008, the plaintiff was traveling west on Texas 87 when the defendant changed lanes and struck his vehicle.

    The plaintiff claims the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, pain and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

    The plaintiff is suing individually and on behalf of her minor child for an automobile collision allegedly caused by the defendant on Dec. 14, 2007.

    The suit does not state where or how the incident occurred.

    On Jan. 11, the plaintiff's 5-year-old daughter was injured when a ladder fell on top of her at Basketball Basics.

    The suit says the girl had to be transported by ambulance to a hospital.

    The plaintiff claims the defendant failed to keep her daughter safe and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.
