Railroad worker sues over fall at Beaumont yard

A railroad worker claims he was injured after falling down stairs at the BNSF rail yard office in Beaumont.

Douglas Chance filed a lawsuit Oct. 9 in Jefferson County District Court against BNSF Railway Co.

Chance claims he was working for BNSF on Dec. 19 when he sustained injuries to his back, head, arms, hips and shoulders after falling down stairs.

According to the complaint, Chance experienced great physical and mental pain and anguish after his fall, lost wages and incurred medical costs. In addition, he suffered a physical impairment, the suit states.

Chance blames BNSF for failing to provide him with a safe place to work.

Chance is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which he may be entitled.

Clint E. McGuire of The Law Office of Alton C. Todd in Friendswood will be representing him.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
