This Just In: Recent civil suits filed in Jefferson County District Courts

Oct. 9

  • Donald Legrande vs. National Lloyds Insurance Company

    PA - Ken Lewis, J - Bob Wortham

    The plaintiff is suing the insurance company and several of its agents for denying at least a portion of the plaintiff's Hurricane Ike policy claim.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant is guilty of several Texas Insurance Code violations and of violating the DTPA.

    The plaintiff is suing for actual and consequential damages, plus attorney's fees.

  • Victor Harvey vs. BNSF Railway Co. et al

    PA - Arthur Sadin, J - Donald Floyd

    The plaintiff, an employee of the defendant, claims he was injured on Aug. 9, 2008, because the defendant failed to maintain the condition of its rail yard.

    The suit does not state how he was injured.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to provide a safe workplace and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

  • Rogers James Lee vs. Eric Darnell Noel et al

    On March 23 the plaintiff was traveling on Highway 69 when he was rear-ended by the defendant.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

    The plaintiffs have filed an asbestos suit against 84 corporate defendants alleging the defendants conspired to conflict them with an asbestos illness.

    The suit alleges the defendants manufactured, sold and used asbestos products while knowing the mineral was harmful.

    The plaintiffs are suing for exemplary damages.

    The plaintiff, a former employee of the defendant, claims he was fired for making a complaint against the defendant for allegedly not accommodating his disability.

    He is suing for punitive damages.

  • Eastex Sleep Solutions vs. Sandra Ponder and Sleep Labs of Texas

    The plaintiff is suing Ponder, a former employee, for making false statements about the plaintiff while now in the employment of Sleep Labs.

    The plaintiff is seeking injunctive relief plus actual and consequential damages.

    On Oct. 31, 2007, the plaintiff was traveling on the Highway 69 service road and had stopped for a stop sign when he was rear-ended by the defendant.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.
