WASHINGTON � The Association of Corporate Counsel presented its 2010 "Excellence in Corporate Practice" award to Jeffrey W. Carr, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Houston-based FMC Technologies Inc.

The award, now in its 14th year, recognizes achievements in service to the legal profession and was presented during the ACC Annual Meeting in San Antonio.
"Jeff is a leading ambassador to the in-house and larger legal community, and has been so for many years," said ACC President Frederick J. Krebs. "As General Counsel for one of the leading global technology solutions providers in the energy industry, Jeff has been one of the most innovative leaders in modern law department management.�

According to the company website, FMC Technologies is a global provider of technology solutions for the energy industry. The company has approximately 11,200 employees and operates 25 production facilities in 15 countries.

"FMC Technologies designs, manufactures and services technologically sophisticated systems and products such as subsea production and processing systems, surface wellhead systems, high pressure fluid control equipment, measurement solutions, and marine loading systems for the oil and gas industry," the website states.

Established in 1996, the "Excellence in Corporate Practice" award recognizes an outstanding in-house attorney who has made significant business and legal contributions to the success of their client including legal advocacy and counseling, service to the legal profession, law department management and cost control processes.
Carr joined FMC Technologies �in November 1993 as international counsel.�In 1997, he moved to Houston as associate general counsel for the Energy Systems Group. In 2001 he was named vice president, general counsel and secretary, and in August of this year he was promoted to senior vice president with continued responsibility as general counsel and secretary.�

Formerly, he practiced international trade law at the law firms of Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Wald Harkrader & Ross in Washington, D.C., and also founded and helped run International Advisory Services Ltd, a Washington-based international trade and investment consulting firm.
