A bank has filed suit against the owner of a GMC Yukon, alleging she has failed to make required monthly payments on the vehicle.

JP Morgan Chase Bank filed a lawsuit April 9 in Jefferson County District Court against Kelly Bursey.

JP Morgan claims Bursey purchased a 2007 GMC Yukon from Mike Smith Autoplaza in Beaumont on Dec. 7, 2006. Bursey paid for her purchase by financing her vehicle through a retail installment contract worth $41,846.84, according to the complaint.

Since then, however, Bursey has stopped making payments for the vehicle, the suit states.

"After giving Defendant all offsets and credits to which Defendant is entitled, there is a remaining principal balance due and unpaid on the Contract in the amount of $26,616.05, which includes interest through April 2, 2010," the complaint says.

In addition to the money JP Morgan claims Bursey owes it, the bank seeks foreclosure in its security interest of the Yukon, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
