Tourist sues Galveston hotel over poolside slip

Part of the pool area at The San Luis Resort in Galveston

GALVESTON - After she slipped and fell at The San Luis Resort, a Tennessee woman has filed suit against the Galveston hotel.

Susan Barlow of Knoxville, Tenn., claims that on June 5, 2008, she was walking by the pool at the San Luis when she slipped on standing water and injured herself.

Her suit was filed April 12 in Galveston County District Court.

Barlow accuses the San Luis of failing to take proper steps to ensure that the area is safe, failing to inspect the pool area, and failing to adequately warn the plaintiff about the puddle.

The suit does not elaborate on the exact extent of Barlow's injuries, but claims the plaintiff suffered serious and permanent personal injuries to her body.

Attorney J. Patrick Gallagher of Fort Worth is representing Barlow, and Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss is presiding over the case.
