Beaumont wreck leads to suit in Orange County

After slowing down for a turning vehicle, Brenda Geer claims she was rear-ended by Ashley Lapeyrolerie.

Geer filed suit against Lapeyrolerie on May 17 in Orange County District Court, claiming she was injured in the collision.

Court documents show that on June 24, 2008, Geer was traveling on FM 1442 in Beaumont. She had come to a stop as the vehicle in front of her was turning into a private drive when Lapeyrolerie "failed to control her speed and slammed into the rear of her vehicle."

The suit does not say why jurisdiction is proper in Orange County.

In her suit, Geer says Lapeyrolerie failed to keep a proper lookout.

She is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages, plus all court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Jonathan Juhan.

The case has been assigned to Judge Buddy Hahn, 260th Judicial District.
