GALVESTON - A seaman is seeking close to $1 million for injuries he claims he sustained aboard a platform supply vessel docked in Galveston.
Darius Foster filed a personal injury lawsuit against Halliburton Energy Services Inc. and GulfMark Offshore Inc., alleging he was hurt Feb. 19 while performing work on the PSV Orleans.
The original petition, filed in the Galveston District of the Southern District of Texas, says Foster's back and neck injuries were caused by the defendants' negligence.
GulfMark did not provide adequate supervision of the rigging activities, and Halliburton improperly rigged the equipment the plaintiff was loading at the time of the incident, the suit states.
Foster claims he experienced physical pain and mental anguish and is seeking $950,000 in damages.
The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston is representing the plaintiff.
U.S. District Court Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt is presiding over the case.
