Seaman injured three times files suit against employer

GALVESTON - Claiming he was injured on three different occasions between August 2007 and December 2009, a Freeport man has filed suit against his employer.

Gerald W. Haydel worked as an oiler/deckhand for G & H Towing Co. aboard its vessels at the times of the alleged incidents.

Haydel's suit, filed June 11 in Galveston County District Court, says he slipped and fell aboard the vessel the Lynne Morgan in August 2007, lost his balance over a deck plate while on the WD Hayden II in August 2009, and injured himself again on the WD Hayden II in November 2009.

The plaintiff claims he hurt his back, shoulder, left knee, right leg and right knee in each occurrence.

He seeks unspecified monetary damages as well as a jury trial.

Attorney Matthew D. Shaffer is representing the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss.
