A Beaumont woman has filed suit against a cemetery, claiming she was thrown from a golf cart driven by one of its employees.
Patsy Ann Monson claims a Greenlawn Memorial Park employee was taking her in a golf cart to view a cemetery lot for sale in July 2009 when the incident occurred.
"While on the golf cart, Plaintiff was violently thrown from the golf cart, injuring her neck, back, knee and body generally," the suit filed June 23 in Jefferson County District Court states.
Because of the incident, Monson incurred medical costs and experienced physical pain, suffering, physical impairment and mental anguish, according to the complaint.
Monson blames the park for causing her injuries, saying it or its employee negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to drive the golf cart in a safe manner, failed to apply brakes to avoid the collision and drove inattentively.
In her complaint, Monson is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Michael R. McGown of Benckenstein, Norvell and Nathan in Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
