A former Entergy employee is alleging the company is committing racial discrimination in violation of the rights of its minority employees.

Acting as his own attorney, Anthony J. Williams Sr. filed suit against Entergy Services Inc. on July 1 in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas.

Williams accuses the defendant of violations of the Civil Rights Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. Williams states that throughout his career at Entergy, he and other minorities were harassed and "given harsher punishments."

Specifically, he states that he was wrongfully terminated due to his supervisor's accusations of insubordination. Although not detailed in the court records, Williams claims he was told he was terminated for attending a credit counseling appointment.

The plaintiff states another co-worker was shown favoritism because his short-term disabilities were covered up. He claims that minorities did not receive the same treatment.

Williams is seeking damages for mental and emotional compensation and is asking the Court to make the defendant obey laws and give all employees equal opportunities and rights.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark is assigned to the case.
