After being involved in an automobile collision, Keith Burrell has filed a lawsuit against Betty Hamill and Melvin Sims.

Burrell accuses Sims of causing the wreck and failing to stay alert.

The owner of the Sim's vehicle, Betty Hammill is sued for negligent entrustment.

The automobile accident happened on Aug. 18, 2009.

Sims is accused of negligence for failing to yield the right-of-way, control the speed of his vehicle, maintain proper control, timely apply his brakes, take proper evasive action, maintain a proper lookout, use reasonable care and failing to stay alert.

Burrell is seeking damages for medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment and disability, lost earnings, loss of earning capacity, property damage, and interest.

The lawsuit was filed on July 16 in 136th Jefferson County District Court.

Judge Milton Gunn Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
