A Nederland corporation has filed suit against the estate of its former president, claiming he owed it more than $40,000 in unpaid loans at the time of his death.
Allied Plywood and Lumber claims it loaned F. Wade Meriwether money in his capacity as president of Allied. At the time of Meriwether's death on May 27, 2008, he owed the company $40,336.02 in unpaid loans, according to the complaint filed Sept. 23 in Jefferson County District Court.
Since Meriwether's death, Allied has requested his executrix, Ruby Meriwether, repay the money, the suit states. However, she refuses to do so, the complaint says.
In addition to the money it says it is owed, Allied seeks attorney's fees, interest, post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
