Man claims disability after Beaumont wreck

A Harris County man claims he suffered physical pain and disability after a driver struck his vehicle.

Jeffrey McGlothen filed a lawsuit Oct 11 in Jefferson County District Court against Jon M. Williams and Williams' employer, Century Dedicated.

McGlothen claims he drove a vehicle in Beaumont on Feb. 17 when Williams, who drove a vehicle for Century, struck him.

In addition to his pain and disability, McGlothen suffered mental anguish, lost earnings, incurred medical costs and endured physical disfigurement and physical impairment, the suit states. He also suffered property damages, the complaint says.

McGlothen blames Williams for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to swerve to avoid a collision, failed to drive in a reasonable manner and drove inattentively. In addition, Williams failed to obey traffic laws and failed to control his speed, according to the complaint.

Because Williams worked for Century at the time of the collision, McGlothen named it as a defendant, saying it should be responsible for the actions of its employees.

In his complaint, McGlothen seeks a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which he may be entitled.

Paul A. Higdon of Stern, Miller an Higdon in Bellaire will be representing him.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
