Suit filed against DuPont over recent fatality in Orange

Dugas

DuPont De Nemours and two other companies have been sued over a recent fatality at a Southeast Texas facility.

Court papers show that on Oct. 11, Matthew Etheredge was killed while working inside the DuPont and Invista plant in Orange. He was moving railcars and was struck by one, knocking him unconscious. Emergency workers were not able to resuscitate him.

On behalf of Matthew Etheredge, Amanda Etheredge filed her suit Oct. 20 in Jefferson County District Court against DuPont, Trans-Global Solutions and Invista S.AR.L.

The suit alleges the defendants controlled the premises and are negligent for failing to provide Etheredge with a safe workplace.

Etheredge was 23 at the time of the incident.

The plaintiff is suing for all lost wages he might have earned over his lifetime, plus all wrongful death damages allowed under law.

She is represented by Beaumont attorney Clay Dugas.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
