Beaumont resident Leonard Randle sued Richard's Cafe in July claiming he ingested collard greens that caused him to become violently ill.
According to a court order signed by Jefferson County 58th District Court Judge Bob Wortham, Randle non-suited the restaurant and the producer of the greens, Allens, three months later on Oct. 21.
In his suit, Randle claims he ate at Richard's Cafe in Beaumont on July 10, 2008, where he ordered a meal that included collard greens manufactured and sold by defendant Allens.
He claimed to ingest the collard greens, which he did not realize contained a bug or parts of a bug that caused him to become violently ill.
Allens and Richard's Cafe asserted a general denial in their answer to the suit, court papers say.
Randle was suing for medical costs, mental anguish, pain, and lost wages, the suit states.
He was represented by Zona Jones of Provost and Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.
Allens and Richard's Cafe were represented by Kevin Connolly of the Liskow and Lewis law firm in Houston.
