Slip-and-fall suit filed against La Morenita Meat Market

By David Yates | Oct 28, 2010

Port Arthur resident Maria Men has filed a slip and fall lawsuit against La Morenita Meat Market.

She filed her suit Oct. 26 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court papers show that on Dec. 8, 2009, Men was shopping at the La Morenita Meat Market in Port Arthur "when she slipped and fell on a wet floor in the produce area."

Men alleges La Morenita Meat Market owed shoppers a duty to protect them from "reasonably dangerous conditions."

The suit also alleges the grocer failed to inspect and maintain its premises and warn shoppers of the danger.

Men is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, medical expenses and lost wages.

She is represented by Beaumont attorney Tom Oxford of the Waldman Smallwood.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. B188-678
