A Tarrant County company claims it has not received payment for nearly $20,000 worth of plumbing goods it supplied for a construction project.
Morrison Supply Co. filed a lawsuit Oct. 25 in Jefferson County District Court against Turner Construction Co. and Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America.
According to the complaint, the Beaumont Independent School District hired Turner Construction as the prime contractor for the multi-purpose athletic complex. Turner subcontracted with Sendero Industries LLC.
Morrison claims it sold plumbing goods to Sendero on March 8 for $19,206.63.
Travelers supplied a payment bond for the project and, as such, acted as surety, ensuring that all payments would be made to subcontractors and suppliers, according to the complaint.
When Morrison failed to receive payment for the goods it received, it sent four different letters to Turner and Travelers, requesting payment, the suit states. Still, it has received no money, the complaint says.
In addition to the money it says the defendants owe it, Morrison seeks attorneys' fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.
