Judge grants continuance in injury suit against Dream Nails Salon

Over the past three years, the Southeast Texas Record has reported on the numerous suits filed by Beaumont resident J.D.Roberts.

On Monday, Nov. 15 a local judge granted an agreed discovery plan order and motion for continuance in Roberts' injury suit against Dream Nails Salon and owner Thao Bui.

In December 2008, Roberts sued Dream Nails, alleging that on June 21, 2008, the chemicals used during a pedicure burned his feet, court records show.

Earlier this month, Dream Nails filed a motion for entry of an agreed discovery control plan order, writing that the "parties anticipate mediating the case following the completion of written discovery and depositions."

The case had been set for trial in January 2011, before Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, granted the continuance.

The trial date has been continued until March 2011.

Roberts is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, lost wages, impairment and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Scott Renick is representing him.

The defendants are represented by Beaumont attorney Ranfal Cashiola of Cashiola & Bean.
