Recent crash subject of lawsuit

A Beaumont man claims he experienced physical pain and suffering after a driver failed to control his speed and struck the vehicle in which the man rode.

Efrain Fernandez III filed a lawsuit Nov. 10 in Jefferson County District Court against Enrique Sanchez.

Fernandez claims he sustained the damages during a collision with Sanchez on Sept. 30.

In addition to his pain and suffering, Fernandez experienced mental anguish, incurred medical costs, sustained physical impairment and lost wages, according to the complaint.

Fernandez blames Sanchez for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to control his speed, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes and failed to drive in a safe manner. In addition, Sanchez negligently failed to maintain control of his vehicle, the suit states.

Fernandez seeks an unspecified judgment, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

Jon B. Burmeister of Moore Landrey in Beaumont will be representing him.
