Wells Fargo Bank National Association has filed suit against Beaumont resident Thomas Cantue, alleging the man has defaulted on a promissory note.

The suit was filed Jan. 10 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show the parties executed a promissory note on Dec. 1, 2006, for a piece of property in Jefferson County.

As of Dec. 13, Cantue has defaulted on the loan and currently owes the bank $241,584.11. The note is also bearing interest on the outstanding principal balance at 8.5 percent.

Wells Fargo is suing to recover the balance due, interest and attorney's fees.

The lender is represented by attorney Robert Jones of the San Antonio law firm Langley & Banack.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
