Man runs into cow, sues animal's owner

Alleging a wandering cow crossed paths with the bumper of his vehicle, Orange resident Jeffrey Tarbox has filed suit against Hamshire local Donald Deaton for injuries he sustained in the collision.

The suit was filed Jan. 13 in Jefferson County District Court.

In his suit, Tarbox says he was traveling on Wilber Road on Aug. 12 when a cow entered the roadway and came in contact with his vehicle.

"Plaintiff alleges he received serious and debilitating injuries as a result of the impact with the cow," the suit states.

He claims it was Deaton's negligence that allowed the cow to escape.

Tarbox is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.

Beaumont attorney Tommy Yeates of Moore Landrey represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 63rd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
