Female manager sues Pizza Hut over alleged discrimination

MARSHALL - A former Pizza Hut assistant manager has filed a lawsuit against the company alleging she is a victim of gender discrimination.

Anetra Skene filed suit against NPC International Inc. on Jan. 21 in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.

Skene worked at Pizza Hut's South Medford location in Angelina County.

According to the lawsuit, Skene was terminated due to her cash register being short $40 on Aug. 2 and for calling in sick the following day.

Skene maintains that a male assistant manager was permitted to violate policies with regard to register shortages and attendance without disciplinary action. She also states she was paid less than other similarly situated male managers.

The defendant is accused of violating the Equal Pay Act and for gender discrimination.

The plaintiff is asking for an award of back pay, front pay, compensatory damages, liquidated damages, punitive damages, attorney's fees, expert fees, interest and court costs.

She is also asking the court for reinstatement to her former position as assistant manager with full salary and benefits.

Skene is represented by Warren T. McCollum of Fenley & Bate in Lufkin.

A jury trial is requested.
