Two Hardin County residents have filed suit against the driver who they blame for causing a collision.
Jeffrey Chiappetta and Erin Drake claim Chiappetta was driving north on Interstate 10 on Feb. 14, 2009, when he slowed for traffic. Suddenly, defendant Christopher Hunt, who was also driving in the same lane, failed to control his speed and struck Chiappetta's vehicle, according to the complaint filed Feb. 7 in Jefferson County District Court. At the time of the collision, Erin Drake rode in Chiappetta's vehicle, the suit states.
Because of the collision, Chiappetta and Drake incurred medical costs; experienced physical pain, suffering and physical impairment; and lost their earnings, the complaint says.
They blame Hunt for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to maintain a proper speed, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to apply his vehicle's brakes.
In their complaint, Chiappetta and Drake are seeking a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
