Hindered by mechanical problems, Beaumont resident Charnetta Bruno's car stalled on a busy freeway, where another motorist struck her.
Alleging the driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, Bruno filed suit against Roberto Padron on Feb. 24 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to her petition, on May 28 Bruno was traveling north on the Eastex freeway when she began expiring mechanical problems with her 1995 Toyota Corolla and stalled in the outside lane.
Allegedly, Padron, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram, failed to control his speed and rear-ended her, the suit states.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Beaumont attorney Anthony Malley III of Moore Landrey represents her.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
