Galveston County resident Francisco Ramirez has filed a Jones Act suit against the shrimp boat the San Martin II and its captain, Quang Truong, for an injury he received last July.
The suit was filed March 2 in Jefferson County District Court.
Sometime in July, Ramirez injured his back while working as a seaman aboard the San Martin. The suit does not state exactly when the incident occurred or how and where it happened.
The suit only accuses Truong of captaining an unseaworthy vessel.
The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Houston attorney Harry Arthur represents him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
