Example of a 1965 Chevy El Camino

Hoping to sell his classic car, Winnie resident Charles O'Brien entrusted his 1965 Chevy El Camino to Gary Watson Racing, which allegedly allowed the vehicle to be stolen.

Contending the theft resulted in a total loss, O'Brien filed suit against Gary Watson and his business on April 19 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show the parties entered into an agreement in which Watson would take possession of the vehicle and sell it for a portion of the proceeds.

"While in the possession of Gary Watson Racing, the property was allowed to be stolen, resulting in a total loss to Mr. O'Brien," the suit states.

O'Brien is suing Watson under the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, claiming he engaged in misleading and false acts.

The plaintiff is suing for economic damages and all court costs, including attorney's fees.

Silsbee attorney Charles Kibler Jr. represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
