Capital One sues Nederland man for $16K

Capital One Bank has filed suit against Nederland resident Jerrie White, seeking to collect more than $16,000 on a delinquent credit account.

The suit was filed May 20 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, Capital One asserts the defendant entered into a credit account agreement with the bank.

The suit does not state when the account was opened or for what purposes, but does state that the defendant has ceased making payments on the account, thereby creating a default.

On Feb. 15 Capital One sent a letter demanding payment but the defendant still refuses to repay the debt.

As of April 26, $16,344.35 remains due and owing on the account, the suit states.

Capital One is suing for actual damages, interest court costs and attorney's fees.

Carrollton attorney Michael Scott represents the lender.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
