Business partners wage legal battle for control of grocery store

Shahid Karim has filed suit against his business partner, Masood Ahmed Khuhro, alleging the defendant is attempting to wrestle away his shares of their business.

The suit was filed May 26 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show the parties each own 50 percent of Sindu C-Store Inc., a Port Arthur grocery store known as Food Basket No. 8.

"Defendant ... has been acting on behalf of Shindhu C-Store without authority and has been attempting to dispose of plaintiff's ownership interest in this corporation as well as the assets," the suit states.

The three-count suit accuses the defendant of breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing, breach of fiduciary duty and tortious interference.

The plaintiff is suing for actual damages and attorney's fees.

Beaumont attorney Wyatt Snider represents the plaintiff.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
