Plaintiff's attorneys Brandon and Bob Monk have designated themselves as expert witnesses in a case they filed last August.
As previously reported, Larry Judice, owner of Larry's French Market, filed suit Aug. 5 in Jefferson County District Court against Republic Powdered Metals, Woodford Commercial Roofing and the W.M. Anderson Company, claiming its metal roof leaks despite multiple efforts to repair the problem.
On May 2 Judice's attorneys, Brandon and Bob Monk, filed a notice designating themselves as expert witnesses.
"Come now Larry Judice ... and designate the following as their expert witnesses: Brandon P. Monk, Bob K. Monk, the Monk Law Firm," the notice reads.
The notice does not state what area the attorneys might be called upon to testify in.
None of the suit's defendants have replied to the notice, court records show.
In his suit, Judice claims that he hired the defendants to install a metal roof on his market at 3701 Pure Atlantic Highway in Groves in September 2006.
"The roof has subsequently leaked during heavy rainfall on numerous occasions, despite attempts by Defendant, Republic Powdered Metals, to repair it under the warranty which remains in effect," the suit states.
Judice seeks actual and additional damages, plus attorneys' fees, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.
The defendants are represented in part by Beaumont attorneys Gregg Brown, Stephen Bega and Kip Lamb.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
