Woman slips and falls while at buffet table, sues Groves restaurant

While loading up at the buffet table, Tina Thibeaux stepped in a "slippery substance" and fell.

On June 6 she filed suit against Famous Buffet in Jefferson County District Court, alleging the Groves restaurant should have "closed off the buffet table" until the slip hazard was eliminated.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 23 Thibeaux was dining at Famous Buffet. She was walking in front of the buffet table when she "slipped and fell in a slippery substance on the floor," injuring her knee, bank, ankle and head.

In her suit, Thibeaux alleges the restaurant negligently failed "to close of the area located in front of the buffet table until the hazardous condition was eliminated."

She also contends Famous Buffet should have warned her of the danger and inspected and maintained its premises.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Orange attorney Sandee Hart represents her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
