Beaumont wreck on North St. subject of suit

A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to stop at a red stop sign and crashed into her.

Rachel Jacquet claims she was driving east in the 3100 block of North Street in Beaumont on June 19, 2009, when defendant Joanna Price, who was driving north in the 600 block of Interstate Highway 10, failed to stop at a red stop signal and struck Jacquet.

Because of the collision, Jacquet incurred medical costs; experienced physical pain, suffering, physical impairment and mental anguish; and lost earnings, according to the complaint.

Price negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to apply her brakes and failed to stop, the suit states.

In her complaint, Jacquet is seeking actual, consequential and exemplary damages, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum legal rate, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Susan J. Oliver of Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

Case No D190-218
