A Jefferson County woman claims she sustained personal injuries after a driver collided with her vehicle.

Andrea Marie Perez filed a lawsuit June 21 in Jefferson County District Court against Todd McKinley as next friend of Peyton McKinley, who is a minor.

In her complaint, Perez claims Peyton McKinley struck her vehicle after failing to keep a proper lookout while driving on June 4.

Because of the collision, Perez incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering and sustained physical impairment, according to the complaint. In addition, she lost her earning capacity, incurred property damages and suffered from mental anguish, the suit states.

Perez blames McKinley for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a clear distance between his vehicle and hers, drove too fast and failed to apply his brakes in time to avoid a collision.

In her complaint, Perez is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

J. Trenton Bond and Chris M. Portner of Portner and Bond in Beaumont will be representing her.
